I noticed Dr Rollin Daniel is now an advertiser there, and I mysteriously cannot log in. Hmmmmm.... just wondering if something is wrong with their site, or if my suspicions are correct.

I'm able to log in just fine. As much as I am not an MMH fan, they will usually warn someone before they ban them.

Off point but I noticed Marianne's site is not getting very much traffic.

DCNGA, why are you not a MMH fan? I found it to be an informative place when I was first researching information about rhinoplasty. I like this site much, much better though, because the information given here is on such a more intermediate-to-advanced level of knowledge.

MMH and I had a 'falling out'. They fired me from a non-paying job as a mod, because I'm a member here. You can do a search on here to read all about it. It's ancient history for me now.

No warning for me... I am just gone from there. I emailed to ask why.

Dr Daniel never advertised anywhere, ever, even talked about not advertising in one of his books. Then, he shows up advertising on MMH after 40+ years of no adverts, and I am banned there at the same time?

This is really disturbing. Also, I think they are waiting for the statute of limitations run out on my potential case against him, so they can sue me to shut me up.

If this doesn't make you question this doctor -- i.e., a truthful patient being silenced, then I don't know what will.

Anyway, sorry Miss J to bring up this unpleasantness here. This just makes me more angry and sad about the whole thing.

I just noticed some seemingly innocuous posts are missing from seemingly innocuous posters over there. It doesn't seem to be an intentional thing. Maybe there's just a glitch with the software. I've written some inflammatory things there but nobody's kicked me off (yet).

I can't log in there either. There is no reason they would ban me so I am sure it is just a glitch with the software.

Ah, maybe it it just a glitch then. Weird coincidence with his new ad, though. I guess the bad economy is touching even doctors like him. I'll update this thread as to what happened if they email me back.

I too have noticed lower traffic there lately, but I figured it was the economy and competition from other boards. Thanks for chiming in, everyone... I have been on edge since finding out various things about my surgery, and I think I let all of this "trigger" me too much sometimes.

Traffic is down on an architecture forum I like to visit as well. Fewer new buildings, fewer face lifts = fewer posts I guess.

MMH sometimes has these 'glitches' where you can't get on. That happens to me too.

The new support board is the same format. It's pretty easy to manage but I can only imagine what it's like with all of those ads plastered everywhere, not to mention a gazillion topics and tens of thousands of members.

I know that when I started this board, the owner of MMH, told me to 'bring my friends' THERE instead. LOL. Then he offered me my own advice board there and/or to be a writer for them.

Thing was that I had ASKED way before that; 'Can I have a board on MMH?' and the answer was a patent; NO; separate boards there are 'only for doctors'. It did not matter that I had a lot of posters who would specifically ask ME questions that would justify a board there. Like ONLY when I started this one up did I get an offer. OF course the 'offer' included 'doing away' with my board. The DAY AFTER (maybe 2 days after ok--) I did not accept the offer, ABRACADABRA--suddenly Wendy Lewis had a board there.

I tried to tell him that my board was basically just one where people who KNEW ME (from the other board that had refugees) could 'collect'. Like it was for refugees and not a thing where I was going to be transferring his board population here. Basically, I just wanted a board for the more ADVANCED posters to DISCUSS stuff more DEEPLY. It's not as if I was 'competing' with him.

Are you sure it's just not one of the glitches they OFTEN have. It's hard for me to log in there because a lot of the time the site does NOT come up. I think they send an e-mail out when they ban someone. Someone I know got one and she showed it to me.

Still not working... plus I tried the 'forgot my password' link, and it said they didn't have my email address in the system. I'm creeped out that these two things happened at the same time.

Actually I would not be surprised if I was banned because I did name the name on there. I noticed a few other unhappy patients of his mysteriously go silent / erase a lot of their posts, over the past couple of years.

They usually warn you before they ban you, or did when I was a mod. The have a hidden 'moderator's den' where they all talk about the posts and what they should do with this one or that one. If you mentioned a doc's name in a negative light, it is very likely they deleted his name or the post entirely. But, it was rare when they would just arbitrarily ban someone without a warning but guess you never know. They are terrified of being sued by doctors and that is why you are never allowed to mention a doctor's name in a negative way. It is in their TOS.

I got a couple of emails today about their TOS, but nothing specific about why/how I was banned. Oh well! I can sign up again and play by their rules. Nothing negative is allowed w/ the name. Only pictures and pm's.

You know, this sort of explains why his other unhappy patients, from whom I was desperately trying to get info last year before my horrific revision day, didn't reply. They may have been deleted and decided to move on. Creepy, and unfortunate all around... all this could have been prevented.

I think MMH has protection from being sued, because they are just the "medium," but I guess they don't see it that way.

I do know the nasty, refund-denying letter I got from a lawyer under the umbrella of the Doctors Company (a 3 BILLION dollar company, "we smash shady litigants") was very intimidating, so I don't blame them at all.

Whether they can really be sued or not is sort of irrelevant because it is THEIR fear. This I know for a FACT.

BTW, if you sign up with another name you will have to get 'permission' to do so. Otherwise, if they check your IP address and see it is the same as your banned one (and they do this from time to time), they will send you an email banning you forever. So, get permission to change your username.

The fact that they banned you without warning leads me to believe that the doc threatened them or they were afraid of losing his advertising $$s. Also, they do come here and read so if they've read any of this, it won't be easy to rejoin, if you are banned rigt now. They may be looking for your IP (they can see everyone's IP address) in the new sign-ups. Just a thought

Very good to know, DCNGA, I don't blame them at all. I think they were responding to external forces as well. They want to preserve what they have.

I will ask them for permission to return, if they say no, that is OK. There are other places to post, and any person who is in the same situation that I was last year (weird primary, not feeling good about going back bec. of the doctor's behavior but lulled by his great past results & reputation), can find me somewhere.
