Just discovered this while staying at a friend's house. I love this product. I bought the clear glosser, but they have shades for reds, brunettes, and blondes. You can use it as a weekly treatment or after shampooing (and conditioning, which I don't need). Definitely makes my hair shinier. If you have a tendency towards oiliness, I wouldn't use it at the root.

Thanks kk25. So, maybe that was not the product I used which was a glaze. I used something before that said it would make a shine but it had the h2o2 in it. Anyway, here are ingredients for the JF product: Ingredients: Water , Propylene Carbonate , Alcohol Denat. , PEG-12 Dimethicone , Dimethicone , Citric Acid , Hydrogenated Polydecene , Xanthan Gum , Dimethiconol , Oleyl Alcohol , Sodium Hydroxide , Propylene Glycol , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazoline , Pearl Powder , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract , Fragrance , Iron Oxides , Mica , Titanium Dioxide , Orange 4 , Yellow 10 , Ext. Violet 2

The glazes with peroxide in them have to be mixed with a developer (which is usually a low amount of peroxide, about 5%). With those you would only do them about once a month or so. They will deposit more color than the JF product, but there will always be a slight change in your natural color once the shiny glaze part of it has faded. This is true even if you get one that is clear but has 2 parts that have to be mixed together because there will still be an oxidation process with just that small amount of peroxide. The JF product won't have any permanent effect, which is a good thing.

Just keep in mind that these don't deposit very much color, so the red would not do much for MissJ's dark brown hair. The red would be good for someone who colors their hair red and needs to refresh it in between colorings. Reds fade the quickest so this could be good for them to use 2-3 weeks after coloring. I have NO experience with any of them besides the clear one. Who knows, the others ones might not give as much shine as the clear one does. I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond for only 8 dollars, but I'm not sure BBB sells toiletries outside of the one in Manhattan. PS- for any Manhattanites who don't already know this -BBB has the lowest priced toiletries iive come across in Nyc. My eyedrops are $1.50 less there, oil blotters are less, this glaze was $3 less than at a beauty supply store. They used to carry Frownies for only $13, but they no longer sell them.

Well, all my hair is growing in gray. So, I'm gradually coloring with lighter shades each grow out. Like most of the black has grown out and now the dark brown is closer towards bottom and near top it gets lighter.

MissJ: I remember telling you to go this route a long while ago - this was around the time you got interviewed for the Allure article - you said they dyed your hair black and foiled your attempts to do this - well I'm glad your hair is growing out and you are going lighter - Maybe I'll see you as a Platinum blonde in Shaws supermarket some day LOL Hotels in Cleveland

I had it for about 5 years. But the damaged hair is no fun. I gradually decided that natural was better because I got so jealous when I saw girls with shiny, healthy hair regardless of the color. Now I've been natural for 2 years and I want color again. I've decided the most flattering color is light ash brown with subtle ash blonde highlights. I'm naturally a level 4 that goes reddish in the sun but I strongly dislike the warmer hair colors. So I went up 2 shades with a strong green base and I'm getting my ashy foil highlights in a few days. I have some gray strands, less than 5%. But there's a lot more grey now than a few years ago.

That is the perfect plan to achieving the look you're after. If you don't mind, I'm curious as to which color line your colorist uses, specifically the base color. I know which ones I think have the strongest green-base, so would love to know which line your person is using, or if they're adding additional green base.

I did the base myself. I used Miss Clairol No.32D-6AA Moon Haze Dark Ash Blonde with 30 volume peroxide. I used to use a product called MCMAX, the level 6 Blue Ash, but it was discontinued a long time ago. I liked that one better than Moon Haze. But I leave the foils to the professionals.

I checked JF's website and they have it there so its not like its being discontinued - PLEASE HELP - BTW - has anyone tried the clear glaze? made a difference? Hotels in Cleveland
