To anyone here over the age of 25 and less than 40, I am sure it's no longer news to you that Boner( Andrew Koenig) from Growing Pains has passed on.
I grew up watching the show - I think I was 7 years old when it began it's run. It's also the show that started the careers of Matthew Perry, Brad Pitt and Leonardo Decaprio, which speaks volumes.

Anyhow, Andrew Koenig suffered from depression and couldn't be helped, despite the best efforts of friends and family. Definitely a sad day when I heard he passed.

Yes, RIP, along with Marie Osmond's son (18 yo Michael Blosil) who committed suicide yesterday-also due to persistent depression. All very sad.

I am over 40 and I watched the show too. Very sad as well as Marie's son. I would assume everyone knows Boner's father was Chekov on the original Star trek series.

He had been missing for quite a while, and then found here. Unfortunate.

very unfortunate. Suicide is such an extreme measure that it is difficult to understand especially with those you assume have such bright futures.

Thank you Denton it was actually news to me. Also didn't know about Brad Pitt debuting there (I did know about Leonardo and actually saw the episode where he played the homeless boy).

BTW what ever happened to the main star of that show?

Fixit, yeah, it was a sad day. The show was definitely cheesy, but when you're a kid, you learn a lot from shows like that, especially when they deal with the same issues you are going through. Brad Pitt had some small uncredited roles before Growing Pains( I looked it up on IMDB), but they were non-speaking. Growing Pains was his first real pay check in Hollywood. He played the older daughter Carol's love interest for one episode. You may remember him better from an episode where he played a cocky rock-star that Ben Seaver looks up to only to find out he's a jerk. So, he actually was on the show twice.

I honestly had to look up what happened to Kirk Cameron. He's become a born-again Christian and that's pretty much his life now. I guess he saved his dollars. Nothing but terrible B-movies and secondary television parts for the last decade plus.

Yes, I saw the news. He was one super-duper looking dude.

I was flabbygasted to learn his dad was Chekov from the old Star Trek series. Ah life. It is sad, twisted, poignant and ... unfair.

(P.S. I also read that Marie Osmond's son jumped from a building in L.A. But I think I know the root of that poor man's troubles.)
