My niece has a consult with Dr. Guyuron in May! He accepted her as a potential patient for the surgery he does for migraines. Her life is basically nil and has been for over 8 years because of the unrelenting migraines. She also has epilepsy (mild) so that compounds everything. Seems the cost will be between $4K and $15k depending on the areas that need treatment. I will update once she goes for the consult. May was the soonest Dr. G was available for a consult. Busy man!

Wow. He sounds booked up.
I've been having problems with computer since May. I'm on a loaner now and still waiting for a new one. If I don't get back to you or am not on board, it would be most likely due to another computer problem.

Thank you, KK. She's 28 and has been suffering from these headaches since she was 20. I sure hope he can help her. She's virtually disabled and living with her mom. Terribly depressing and sad. I know, Miss J. That is booked up, but they were just glad he agreed to see her since she not only has migraines but epilepsy as well. They are seeing him at Case Westtern Hospital, where I guess he does the migraine consults. She has to see a neurologist also before she sees Dr. G. For the first time in years they have some hope.

Cutting down the corrugator does help with the migraines so she should do well with that.

My original consult date with Dr. G. was 3 months from the day I requested one--he's booked because he does them only one or two days a week and partial days at that. But I called later and asked to be fitted in sooner in case of a cancellation, and I got one the next day.

Since there are three of them going, they had to have a firm date so they could purchase plane tickets (coming from lower SC). This was the first 'firm' date he had. Miss J, here is some of what he does during the surgery: Quote:Which muscles are likely to be trigger points? The muscles that usually cause migraine headaches include the frowning muscles in the forehead, the chewing muscles in the temple and/ or muscles in the back of the head.
What is done during surgery? The frown muscles are removed through small incisions that are hidden within hair bearing skin. This smoothes the forehead and usually leaves a youthful look.
What else is done during the surgery? The chewing muscles are not removed but the nerves associated with them are detached. This may produce temporary numbness in the temples. In the back of the head, a small portion of the muscles that wrap around the nerves may also be removed.
