Yesterday , I had the opportunity to go to the health Store, and while browsing for emu oil I came across some homeopathic pills and bought the following:

- Apis Mellifica this one is supposed to aid with swelling.

- Arnica Montanato aid w/ Bruising.

- Antimoinum tartaric 4 pimples and breakouts.

I started taking them yesterday, and do not know if it was just a sugar pill effect, but today when I first got up in the morning my face wasn't that swollen , to be honest I actually tought that the face was looking very nice.

has anybody tried them before?

I've tried homeopathic remedies before but not those specific ones. 99.99999% (well kind of) IS a sugar pill. They act on the principle that a tiny tiny amount of something that would tend to aggravate the condition will make you stronger to resist the condition. For example for something like NAUSEA- like a few atoms of NUX VOMICA (something that would normally make you puke) are in there. But the action is to decrease nausea.
"Homeo" = LIKE. So it resolves to curing conditions with a likeness of what would cause them.

I've been having problems with computer since May. I'm on a loaner now and still waiting for a new one. If I don't get back to you or am not on board, it would be most likely due to another computer problem.

Thank you MissJ for the explanation, now I get the Idea of what they are.

NUX VOMICA

Are they out there gathering bits of vomit and making homeopathic cures for nausea? LOL? Or that an herb?

It's a type of poison plant.

I used the Arnica a few times, but I can't say if it worked because I don't know if I would have bruised without it.

But, I used it when I got my lips filled. No bruising. Is that normal?

I used it when I had my LL and Botox combined (between eyes/forehead area). Very minimal bruising above the lip.

I used it again with my secon Botox. No bruising.

I used it with my TT, but that had such massive bruising that I doubt anything could have thwarted that.

So I really don't even know if the stuff works, and may not buy it again unless I get Botox and come out with bad bruising.

I've also used Bromelain for swelling, which some people at the TT boards say has helped them. I don't think it helped, and if it did, it was too minimal to justify the expense.

I'm a little off topic here but a related issue.
I noticed these new pre and post op plastic surgery nutrients advertised on a TV beauty segment.
I have no idea if they work but they are damn expensive, like $150 for two bottles!

My PS highly 'suggested' (and I bought) a slew of pre-meds for my FL. Don't know if any of it helped or not to be honest. I did bruise (on the sides of my face and neck) but maybe it would have been worse without the stuff? Not sure.

I've used arnica and bromelian but it's hard to tell if they do anything since you don't know how it would be without it. I continued to take bromelain just because I have a ton of it left and it's supposed to be overall good for you. I think I read about it helping prevent glycation (sugar making colagen and elasin brittle). Dr guyuron has a study on arnica and steroids, I believe he found that both help with swelling, arnica did nothing for bruising and steroids delay bruise healing.

The trick with homeopathy is to get the right remedy at the right dose. Homeopathy is an energetic medicine, the more diluted the remedy, the more potent the effect. I have quite a few homeopathics at home, one that works really well for me is argentum nitricum 30C for anxiety. Bromelain/digestive enzymes are not homeopathics (and most arnica gels are not homeopathic either; they are herbal extracts), enzymes taken away from food act as anti inflammatories in the body so they work more to reduce swelling and pain than bruising. Taking vitamins C and K before surgery help to strengthen blood vessels to reduce bruising, but it is not entirely preventable.

I am skeptical of any supplement without a full ingredient list including dosages and source. Stick to professional products. Do not use any herbal extracts or vitamin E for 2 weeks before surgery as they can increase bleeding and bruising.

I was told to take vitamin C and was also prescribed vitamin K which thickens the blood. The dr doesn't usually prescribe K but said vegetarians tend to bleed more during surgery which is why I got it.
