I have a number of milia (little skin colored bumps) that never seem to go away. Unlike pimples, they never "come to a head" and pop. How do I get rid of them? I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Honestly, they may be sebaceous hyperplasia (if skin tone colored). Milia are normally whitish or milky colored, while SHs are flesh or yellow tinged. If milia, reduce the emollient products you are using or your face, they may go away on their own. One brave person on MMH took a needle (GASP) to hers and popped, then squeezed them out (milia are a type of hardened whitehead). If SHs, then it's more of a sticky wicket to fix, normally takes removal. SHs are clogged oil glands and come in various sizes, especially in women and women over 40. They don't normally arrive until mid-life (35+) and usually 40s+. Here is info on SHs: http://www.skinsight.com/adult/sebaceousHyperplasia.htmHere is milia: http://www.skinsight.com/adult/milia.htm

Hi DCNGA! Thanks for the info. Mine look more like the milia pictures. (I sure wish I hadn't clicked on that one picture that said "Graphic Content" - I was hoping it would show something interesting like the extracted contents of a SH bump, but it was something else entirely :-0...)

I think I had some of those little pimple looking things on my forhead , it was not theones that DCNGA posted and what I did is use a clean(disinfected)small tip sewing needle to make a little tiny hole so the dirt stuff come out then I Used one of the pimple extracting tool to push the dirt out( for me it worked, but maybe is best to check with derm).

I think they respond to Alpha and Beta hydroxy creams. Try something called 'Lac Hydrin'

LOL @ the "graphic content". I was drinking tea and snorted it up my nose when I clicked on the link, Cass. I didn't notice that when I went to the website before I posted the link. LOL. Sorry. Too funny.
Glad it is milia. They often go away on their own. But you might check with your derm.

This is an excellent reason to get a facial.
