Unapproved. Write to MissJ... New sign ups.

To cut down on SPAM BOTS, multiple ID posters, optimize band width resources for current users and hopefully keep the board a 'tight group' of people I or other members have some 'connection' to from somewhere, etc; ALL new sign ups get a message that says: "Unapproved. Write to Miss J..."

It's that way because this is a NON-COMMERCIAL board that I draw on my own resources to fund, time etc and I'm just 'not into' having a board with a bunch of 'anon fly ins'.

Anyway to all PRESENT members (who's status is "member" and not "unapproved"): It's been brought to my attention that some new sign ups who are "unapproved" sometimes e-mail or PM members. Although my TOS policy is not to initiate private correspondence UNTIL one has established an OPEN relationship on board, new (unapproved) sign ups can technically e-mail or pm someone.

To PRESENT members:

IF you get a PM or e-mail from someone you don't know (have never seen post on the board) here are some guidelines:

1: If it's an E-MAIL; it's one sent through the system. They DON'T actually have your private e-mail addy. My advice is DO NOT e-mail them back from your e-mail addy as that is one way they can see your e-mail addy but they don't see it if they just push the e-mail button from the board.

2: If you get an e-mail from someone on the board you don't know. Go to the members section and look up their screen name. If it says; 'unapproved', there is no reason to e-mail them back. If you want to correspond with an unknown unapproved sign up (you are NOT OBLIGED to! just because they initiated private correspondence!) , simply PM them from the system (from the board). In that way, you won't be sharing your e-mail addy with an unknown unapproved member.

3: If it's a PM from an unknown unapproved member, no need to respond to it either.

I'm the ONLY ONE who can actually see what someone's e-mail addy is. But sometimes when a member is e-mailed from here from someone they don't know, they THINK other people can see their e-mail addy. NOT TRUE. They don't see your e-mail addy. All they do is hit an 'e mail' button and the system forwards their e-mail to you. When the system forwards an e-mail to you from here, it should also give the screen name of the person writing it and with that, you can always check the "members" list to see what status they have or if they have posted before.

That said, to ALL NEW SIGN UPS: It is against my TOS policy to initiate any private correspondence with members IF your status is; "Unapproved. Write to MissJ...." Hence my present members have absolutely NO 'social obligation' to PM or E-mail you back just because you sign up here and hit them with private correspondence. So, present members, don't feel 'obliged' to respond to unsolicited PMs or e-mails with unapproved sign ups.

The NETIQUETTE on this board is really to wait UNTIL you are 'approved' to post openly before you start initiating private correspondence with 'seasoned' members. This is because it's best for people to have SOME FAMILIARITY with whom they are having private correspondence and that is only gained by establishing an OPEN relationship by OPEN posts. It's a social 'no no' to sign on here, not actually be a 'contributor' of any kind and then 'help yourself' to the resources by hitting people up with private correspondence. I don't encourage that. New sign ups need to wait until they are approved (by me) and establish some 'track record' on the open board before initiating private correspondence with other members.
Thank you.

I've been having problems with computer since May. I'm on a loaner now and still waiting for a new one. If I don't get back to you or am not on board, it would be most likely due to another computer problem.
