Well just the fact that someone who lives in Seattle was able to sneak into a locked down review and post, pretty much says it all. IMHO

I think you are absolutely right about RealSelf blackmailing doctors. I noticed that there are thousands of doctors with an "Account Suspended" status. For example:

https://www.realself.com...tic-Surgeon/Anthony-Tran

https://www.realself.com...tic-Surgeon/John-Shamoun

https://www.realself.com...urgeon/Grant-A-Fairbanks

From what I can tell, these are good doctors in good standing in the medical community, but the "Account Suspended" label makes it look like they did something wrong or unethical to be "banned" from RealSelf. No doubt this is a tactic to force doctors into a paid program. Disgusting!

Well, for the account suspended. RS should state the reasons.

I just searched for all three, and they have the "account suspended" tag in their Google meta descriptions too, which makes them look bad in search listings. I couldn't find any evidence of serious misconduct that could explain any of those three being suspended from Realself for legitimate reasons. So basically, they either don't want to be a part of Realself or didn't pay them on time. The geeks who run that site are pretty low to do such a thing.

Just found this, written by a Cairo doctor: https://www.complaintsbo...unt-hostage-c877027.html - it includes the emails from Realself staff as well, trying to shill him into participating but also openly admitting to pushing negative reviews to the bottom of profiles. And see the part where they say to the doctor "Consult requests = $$$$ for you!"

(BTW I swear that Cairo doctor stole a pic from another doctor's site one time - I really recognise the 1996 style website wwww.cairo-plastic-clinic.com).

This is horrifying. I was actually thinking of the Biltmore guy because of RealSelf before I found this forum and MissJ again.
I am shuddering with relief that I dodged that nightmare.

I don't know their reasons for suspending the accounts of those doctors but then again RS does not give the public the reasons either.

Legit reasons for suspending a doctor's account would be what's in their TOS policy such as IF they nab them getting friends, family or staff members to write the reviews. The WORSE thing a doctor can do is to get his patients to write their reviews FROM his/her OFFICE as doing so will show up as many people writing from the SAME IP and that is very suspicious to a website.

I guess also if a peer lodges a complaint about thier conduct.

Also, if a doc pushes a website to remove their negative reviews but to keep only the positive ones up there, they can refuse or just suspend the account.

As for the doctor from the NILE, he may have been the one who stole Dr. Y's photo years back. I forget. All I remember was that a doctor from that area was using Y's photos.

That said, RS does look to be on the manipulative side and all about their profit margin.

As I've seen so many shills for doctors on there who are still active, I can't imagine them enforcing that TOS policy unless it was a very significant case of most of their reviews being written by the same friend/relative/staff member.

I used to know of a website company or two that would pull down their clients' websites and write something vindictive on the holding page if they missed a monthly payment. So, instead of the common "page not found" or maintenance mode, the text would be changed to something implying their business had collapsed. That always got them to cough up very quickly. So I kind of have a gut feeling Realself do the same, although I'm sure there are other reasons.

Yes, I swear it was the Y patient with all the fat, who he actually presented as a "good" fat grafting result, even though Y didn't do his fat.
