Thanks Hope40! I am going to adopt your handle here - HOPE! - for the next many days.

Pleeease get better soon. This has to end for you! On the up side, you seem to be basically healthy and not in much pain, so that's something to be glad about. I am wishing you a full and complete recovery and if your skin looks better, hey, that would be a plus at this point. Keep up your positive(ish!) attitude, which is going to seeing you through to THE END OF THIS MESS.

Yeah, well, what else is there to do, right? It's that or cry. I am personally HOPEing for my nose swelling to go down. It's been 10 months.

I am completely unfamiliar with Ms. Hay! So I will surf up to Amazon.com momentarily, the better to enlighten myself!

Barbiegirl, you looked SO SUPER in that photo you posted a while back .. but you seem to know a lot about body functioning and malfunctioning .. how is that so? You are so young to have suffered anything too adverse, I would hope! And judging by your glowing good looks, you must practice what you preach.

I have actually written out a POSITIVE AFFIRMATION of how I want my skin to look again - the better to achieve it. C'mon magic, I need you now!

Louise Hay (You Can Heal Your Life) is so amazing if you are at all into the law of attraction and emotional healing. Her dvd is also excellent, you might even be able to watch it on Youtube. At the very least her techniques will not cause any harm and they do help to cope with things emotionally.

You are so sweet about my pics, thank you! Unfortunately I have had many health issues since childhood (chronic ear and throat infections, chronic fatigue syndrome, severe endometriosis, treatment resistent anemias, adrenal exhaustion, eating disorders and mild BDD to name a few), so I learned about all this stuff and pursued my career in nutrition (and maybe naturopathic medicine, if I feel like 4 more years of school) out of necessity as conventional medicine really hasn't worked all that well for me. I have to be on top of my health issues in terms of diet, supplements and other treatments or else my health pretty much hits the fan.

Hopefully the affirmations and white light help! You have been through far more than anyone should ever have to go through.

Gee that is a long time, Hope. So frustrating for you.

Bug, I am assuming you had the STSS form of toxic shock. Is that correct?

STSS, is caused by streptococcus bacteria. Most often STSS appears after streptococcus

bacteria have invaded areas of injured skin, such as cuts and scrapes, surgical wounds, and even chickenpox blisters.

No - I was lucky (that being a relative term!). The lab report on my skin culture showed Staph aureus - which is on EVERYBODY to some degree, but I guess I was just down for the count after the MixTo, and that's why it took my body by storm. The fact that it all started with an infection in my left eye made me suspicious that it was caused by the metal cap put on my eyeball (so he could fry my eyelid). But I will never know for sure as staph is truly on every surface area.

The final diagnosis I think fits the best was "Staph Scalded Skin Syndrome" which is in the same family as Toxic Shock Syndrome, but is NOT as life-threatening. I would've actually gone into shock if I had TSS - which I did not. Small compensation.

I seriously want to graft some of your positivity onto me, because I could really use it.

Also, I am very happy the prednisone is working so fast for you & I hope you continue to tolerate it OK.

Do you want that graft WITH or WITHOUT staph? (snort!)

I loved my horoscope last Monday - the day I returned to my derm doc, the rash at its absolute ZENITH, myself completely overwhelmed with anxiety, the doc even puzzled as to the cause:

"Taoist philosopher Lao Tzu said, 'The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.' Right now, said journey feels more like
50 thousand miles."

How could the newspaper stargazer be SO RIGHT?!?! And if anyone tells me Mercury Rx does not happen, I will hurt them. Cuz I am living proof. Dumb donkey that I was getting MixTo when it was full throttle retro in mid-May. >:-(

The unbelievably fantastic news is: Prednisone seems to be beating back the RASH! It is day 4, and I am completely resolved from the waist up. The rash on my entire lower body has almost entirely flattened out, turned purple, and is now fading to a rose-hue of pink! My God. A miracle.

I tolerate the Prednisone very well now. The 20mg in the morning I don't even know I've taken; I cut back the 20 mg in the evening to 10, cuz I had a jump-outta-my-skin racing heart at 1:15am the first night I took the full 20 mg. Hope that won't send me back to that special ring of HELL reserved for rashes.

Glad things are resolving, Bug. You deserve a rest! Maybe you should plan a trip to NZ!!
