Ok here is a female that got her maxilla shortened by some surgeon in texas: http://www.amazingfaces.com/procedures_article.php?ID=37Notice her mandible looks WAAY stronger, masculine, and wider. Naturally I want to avoid this AT ALL COSTS. Now this was apparently caused by autorotation of the mandible. I dont FULLY understand how autorotation works...all I know is I want a shorter maxilla WITHOUT getting a stronger mandible. Will i need to give Dr. Park special instructions on how to do my 2 jaw surgery given I dont want a stronger mandible like this? I mean his aesthetic taste clearly does not involve stronger mandibles and maybe he does things differently by default to avoid this, but JUST to be certain can someone explain this to me in really good detail?
If anyone here knows anything about SEO or ad optimization and would like to make a little money PM me.

Take into account that her neck has been completely shortened by the black top and the way the white jacket is riding up. Looks like she now has NO neck- big, BIG aesthetic no-no. This definitey makes her look weird. You never want to shorten the neck unless it's waaaaayyyy too long.
PS- I agree that she does still look more masculine than before.

Ok I was just talking to someone about this and they better explained it to me.
This woman didn't get 2 jaw surgery...just shortened the maxilla. Since I'm getting 2 jaw surgery I can get the mandible shortened to avoid getting a result like this.
I just saw this result and made a knee jerk reaction and started freaking out all like "OH SHIT I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ME"...but now that I know this type of result can be avoided by simply shortening the mandible (something dr. park is the master of) I'm good.

her face is better balanced though which is the goal of that kind of surgery. auto rotation has to do with the mandible having a joint and therefore being movable on it's own. Like if you shorten the maxilla, you could move your mandible up to meet it. Has to do with the fact that you can move your mandible on your own but not the maxilla and sometimes the mandible will move to a better position when they get the maxilla OUT OF THE WAY. It's like that (to over simplify). Her back jaw angles were kind of receding into the background because they were rotated backwards too much because the maxilla was too long in a place that ended up forcing the mandible into a different orientation. So, the angles got oriented more forward when the maxilla was no longer in the way. That's why you see more of her jaw line from the front.

Hum! She doesn't look bad to me! Yes, the jaw is a bit more square-looking, but her face is definitely in better proportion - and I bet SHE is thrilled with the corrected bite, thanks to orthodontia. She is looking a bit sleepy in that "after" shot, but a cappuccino would set her right in no time. I Bug U

Interesting. My son sucked his thumb up until he was 8-9 years old and his bite looked very much like the before pic of this girl. The orthodontist showed me how he was unable to bring his top and bottom teeth together. There was a gap that you could put your finger through just like the girl's pic. He had to get one of those appliances in the roof of his mouth. I remember talking about this before here as well. We had to use a *key* each nite to help stretch and I guess, widen the upper jaw to it's original position so that the teeth would eventually align.

I like the after way better; her jaw line is too narrow and has too steep of a slope in the before picture. I don't think she looks masculine at all.
 Redheads have more fun.

after looks way better. in the pics that kk25 added you can see the better contours and more balanced face. the pic in the link e provided, was just a bad pic, with the patient in the middle of a smile, which is always deceiving.
E you need to understand that with shortening the maxilla, the area from the nose to the top lip will look bulkier and more pronounced. your nose will also be wider. This is a tradeoff of rotating the maxilla and shortening it. The reason why in many of park's b/a's it isn't noticeable, is because many of his patients have small palettes to begin with, so the shortening and rotation aren't as big a trade-off as they might be for caucasians for example.

Y, you really DON'T have a long maxillary area anyway.

My only comment is that the top right pic looks awful.

Bottom right looks good. problem is a lip lift might be enough to get a result like that.
IMHO, u can shorten u'r maxilla. but don't shorten u'r mandible,as it's already short and accentuates the lack of width in your temples and also the longish glabella to top lip distance.

With a stronger chin/jaw you would remind me of Ethan Hawke circa Training Day. That's a good thing.

Well, use a jpg format for next photo. That format did something weird in viewing it. I would not say your face is long (bone structure). But it's kind of 'mopey' like the posture. Maybe that's why people say 'long face'. yatterman1 wrote:

I mean I know my face is droopy which also makes my face look long (and makes me look a lot older than i am). I think after a lip lift (with corner lip lift), canthoplasty, ptosis repair, and a brow lift that will correct all of the soft tissue problems that make my face look droopy.

Well, I think it's mainly the CHIN being recessive but you don't want to change that. You know your chin would look more pointy or narrow "V" like in your cartoon figure if you got it advanced--just at the center or a chin implant with no wings.

I think that woman looks very attractive in the after. She has a pleasant yet edgy look to her.
