I would like to get laser hair removal in the bikini area. Has anyone done this before either using the at home lasers or in a spa or dermatologist's office? I'd really like to hear about your experience and if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Hmmm no comments on laser hair removal?
Just ordered the Silk'n SensEpil from amazon. It was $450. Hope it works.

For that much I hope it sings to you too. LOL.

I had it done in the office of a derm many years ago. Had to fight with them to turn it up to the highest level and to study up on the machine so I knew the levels. My hairy legs are hair free now. Got it done maybe 13 years ago. Gentle Lase by Candella.
I've been having problems with computer since May. I'm on a loaner now and still waiting for a new one. If I don't get back to you or am not on board, it would be most likely due to another computer problem.

You don't do any shaving or have to have yearly touch-ups? cindy79- keep us informed about your results please. How much does your machine hurt? I get it done with the Lightsheer diode and it hurts like nothing else I've ever had done. I have had 5 treatments on my neck and about 4 on my chest. Totally painful and I have a pretty high tolerance to pain. I now go in with 2 hours of EMLA numbing cream, 20 mg's of Valium, about 6-8 Advil, and at least 2 beers- PLUS I do the ice roller that they use at my spa. All of this makes it almost bearable- the neck is by far the worst pain ever for me, chest not so bad. True story- Once I went in so goof-balled that when she told me to lay in the chair I layed down with my feet at the head rest and my head where your feet are supposed to be. She laughed and was all "I've never had ANYONE do that before".

Ryan, Long story.
OK, so I had white skin and DARK COARSE hair and a LOT of it. I had been waxing for years. So, I knew I was the ideal candidate and had most hairs in anagen (active growing phase). Despite their saying you need 3 or more treatments, I knew the treatments would be MOST effective to someone with light skin, coarse dark hair and who had most hairs in anagen phase.
So, I set out to study the FDA trial papers to find the OPTIMAL setting (higher setting ). However, the 'fight' came in because the laser operators want to WATER DOWN the settings so that you 'need' 3 or more treatments. I knew they would pull that on me. So I insisted on a spot test of 2 spots. Spot 1 being the setting THEY wanted and spot 2 being the one I wanted (the HIGHER SETTING).
I observed the spot after 3 months and of course, MY choice did better--just as I thought. But still it was a 'fight' to get the setting I wanted. Although they did the setting I wanted, they gave me a 'newbie' laser operator who was not very good. The nurse I selected to do--well the doc did not give her to me as planned and gave me some bozo operator. The laser kept on breaking down or being dysfunctional and the operator did not do it right--like she did not overlap the beam as one is supposed to and she LEFT A LOT OF SPOTS bare.
I complained to the head doctor who told me; 'Oh you need 3 treatments'. I told him that one treatment SHOULD COVER ALL of the territory and not leave spots of un lasered hair and demanded a re-do and he made me wait like 3 months to do it.
So, what I'm saying is that IF they had gone with my setting and gave me a good operator, I would have had the legs done in ONE treatment given my start point. But the nature of the BIZ is to water the treatments down so you need to pay for more.

Cindy Let us know how it goes. I was having my legs & bikini area waxed for years but just recently stopped & am shaving now, when you wax there is a 2 week period where you have to grow hair out so there is something to wax & I got tired of that. I would love to have the hair gone & have been considering doing the laser for that. I will look up the product you mentioned. Ha! We are all so high maintenence here!!

I would love to get laser hair removal, but having white skin and light hair make it unlikely to work for me :( Hope the at home laser works well Cindy!

I actually haven't started using it yet. In the fine print it says you have to wait 3 months if you've been on any type of steroid and I did take that 6 day pack after my fat transfer which was in Feb. I think I'll start it soon though since it's been almost two months and I only took it for 6 days. Not sure if that's smart or not.
