I don't know how other people feel, but I think some of the avatars (Yatterman, AnnieB) are too big. They take up too much space and affect the readability of discussions threads. For short comments, the avatar height can be 10 times that of the text.

I like the height of Bugjune's avatar. It doesn't disrupt the flow of comments, but it's large enough to allow for personalization.

Well, I 'did' Annie B's for her. But what I can do for you in a similar regard is disallow very large or intrusive avatars in the future. You make a very good point though and I would not want everyone having a very large avatar size. But for now, Annie B is 'grandfathered' in to keeping hers as I did it for her.

I've been having problems with computer since May. I'm on a loaner now and still waiting for a new one. If I don't get back to you or am not on board, it would be most likely due to another computer problem.

Plus large avatars may be hard to wade through but because they're illustrations (as opposed to photos), they don't take up a lot of bandwidth.

Thanks MissJ.

Stache, for me it's not the bandwidth but the added fatigue of scrolling through large graphics that don't add anything of substance to the discussion. I think it's great to have personalization, but scrolling through the same oversize-cartoon-warrior-action figure four times in one thread can get annoying. That action figure also occupies about 25% of the height on my 15" laptop screen which I think is too much.

That said, this forum is more user-friendly than the others I know about(makemeheal, YTF). Btw, when did YTF finally ditch that terrible forum design they were using?

I must have a high tolerance level because I scroll through them a lot and most likely more frequently than anybody on here

I would not be me without my lime helmet. I would feel naked! We DO NOT want me naked, I promise!

Here is Annie's avatar slightly smaller if she wants to use it instead.

Also, Y's resized.

Most forums limit the dimensions of an avatar to a max. MMH has a max and so does SASs forum. I've seen limits on most forums.

THANK YOU DC!! D, that works perfectly for me, and I appreciate you doing that. Thank you so much.

Miss J, thank you also for allowing me to grandfather my avatar in. That's really nice of you and I appreciate that.

I have no problem changing to the smaller size though, and so happy I still get to keep it. I love my avatar, and like you said, D, it just wouldn't be the same! Yep, a naked feeling!

I don't know how to go about switching it. Can someone please guide me through?

xoxoxo

Hmmm, okay I went to Modify Avatar in my Profile, and under Current Avatar, it says I have no avatar. (?)

Ah, okay, now I found it under Signature. I think I may be able to do this myself. I'll see if I know what I'm thinking I know.

Or not.

Edit again to say "or not."

I would love any help, and thank you.

Annie, go to where you found your siggy and replace the link that is there now (remove he current link) and put in this one (between the brackets):

http://missjfacialplasticsurgery.com/MissJForum/resource.ashx?a=2715

That will resolve (once you surround it with the image brackets) to the smaller avatar I posted above and you will then be displaying a smaller avatar.

HTH

I tried to shrink but had a problem with my microsoft photo editor. When I copied the avatar to my photo edit program, it turned it BLACK. arggg--time to call tech teddy again.
